gumpy's foot locker

we have a foot locker that belonged to bebe's great grandfather that we keep under a window in the dining room. it's in a nice, out of the way spot that gets lots of good light and bebe has adopted it as one of her hang-outs around the house. sometimes she brings books up to read, other times she stands on it to point excitedly out the window, and sometimes she just sits on it, talking to herself or thinking deep thoughts.

i know lots of folks like the "conversations" we have with beebs, but some times the pictures tell their own story. one of the many great rewards of being a parent is sitting back and watching as your kid just does his or her thing, exploring what's around them and figuring things out. the hardest, and sometimes best, thing you can do as a parent (i think) is to just get out of the way...

valentine's day on the cape

we've never really been big celebrators of valentine's day. although one year teed did try to take me to a basketball game, which is the ultimate declaration of love if you ask me, but weather kept him from following through on the commitment and so mommy had to take his place. it's so hard to find a man who will commit- am i right, ladies? anyway, on valentine's day this year we met up with mems and teed on the cape. aside from celebrating love and stuff, we were also celebrating teed's birthday, which had happened a few days before.

it was a short drive and once we got there bebe barely had time to take her coat off before we dressed her back up again and headed out for a walk. it was a beautiful day.

if there's a different path to take, she's taking it. that's my girl...

jeeze-louise. lookit these two.

we hung out at the bandstand for a little while

and try as he might, teed just couldn't get his head stuck in the railing.

bebe thought this was pretty funny and rewarded his efforts with a smooch

which took a lot out of her. she stopped right where she was to rest.

i'm not sure what's going on here. maybe discussing college choices?

bebe makes her point. or demands juice. or declares a poop. something...

hey lady!

the usual suspects.

after our walk we needed to warm up back at the hotel.

whenever daddy starts acting like the paparazzi with his camera he gets the same response out of bebe and mommy:

those are my girls!

thanks for meeting up with us on your trip to the cape, mems and teed! we had a great time!

mems&teed

a long, long time ago mems and teed came for a visit, but thanks to the magic of photography they have been frozen in time and perfectly preserved, at least digitally, in a state of absolute stasis from which they will never sicken, grow old, or die! wow, that's creepy.

anyway- here's part one of a two-part mems and teed post today! part two will follow later in the day with my pics from our day on the cape!

trying out her new rain boots

taking the babies for a walk. all of the babies.

"what? it saves time!"

the next morning at breakfast

"look, i don't like to talk money over breakfast, but if you guys diversify your portfolio with some safe, long term investments and mix in a few riskier prospects, you could do alright."

"then again, i'm only nineteen months old and what i know of investing comes only from reading the wall street journal cover to cover every day."

on the weekends she goes for some lighter fare.

it's sometimes important to read with your feet, so to speak:

must have been a real page-turner!

awwww, lookit these guys!

bebe watches with mommy as teed demonstrates some hugging techniques on one of her babies.

she looks a little concerned...

and no visit is complete without a read through with mems.

thanks for coming guys!

smoothie

one of bebe's favorite snacks is a smoothie. she can tell you all the ingredients- they're pretty simple: juice, tofu, berries, and bananas(sorry aunt marge).

it's an added plus when you can coordinate what gets on your face with what you're wearing...
